CATEGORIES:

Mustache – Mustache may be styled with aids and character.
Beard (0”- 6”) – As grown, mustache integrated. Length is important but isn’t everything. Mass, density, shape, color, and overall impression all count. Styling aids are allowed.
Beard (6”+) – As grown, mustache integrated. Length is important but isn’t everything. Mass, density, shape, color, and overall impression all count. Styling aids are allowed.
Santa Beard (Total Look Category) – As grown, enhanced, or crafted. This is an open total looks category that should embrace the holiday spirit and provide Christmas joy. Focus is on the beard and the overall look presented.
Whiskerina (Women’s) – Craft beard category. Handmade by the competitor with a holiday theme prior to the event. The more creative, the better.
Kids Craft (12 and under) – Craft beard category. Handmade by the competitor with a holiday theme prior to the event. The more creative, the better.

Winners will be awarded in each of the 5 categories. Prizes to be announced.

Contest Rules & Regulations:

There are no adjustments or exceptions made.

By registering for the competition, all competitors give their permission to the organizers and to the organizers’ designees that the competitors may be photographed, videotaped, and tape recorded and further that the organizers and their designees may use the photographs, video tapes, and audio tapes of the competitor for any purpose including commercial purposes. Any competitor who does not agree to this provision must notify the organizers in writing before the start of the competition.

As an “Entrant”, your $10 fee covers 1 category. For multiple categories, you must apply and pay for each category with an additional charge of $10 each. If you win a category, your photo will be taken and may be utilized on event post event media.

If you do not appear when called to the stage, you will be eliminated. No refund will be given for “no show.”

All decisions of the judges and organizers are final. No poor sportsmanship from the entrant nor the sponsor will be tolerated. Any poor sportsmanship at any point of the contest will be cause for elimination. No refund will be given if eliminated for poor sportsmanship.

Mustache & Beard Contest Rules:

The competition will take place in 5 categories (Mustache, Beard (0”-6”), Beard (6”+), Whiskerina, & Kids). Each competitor will specify the category in which they wish to compete when they register.

The competitors in designated categories must appear to the competition with their facial hair styled as it will be for the contest. Any competitor who does not meet the qualifications for the category entered may be placed into a different category where they might qualify.

Artificial facial hair is permitted in craft categories.

The term “aids” as used in the category descriptions means artificial styling aids such as mustache wax, hairspray, hair cream, styling foam, hair gel, hair pins, rubber bands, hair ties, and the like.

Winners were be determined based on the following criteria:

Beard & Mustache Categories:

Size: the overall length, width, girth and density (fullness) of the hair. Beards are measured from the bottom of the lip to the end of the longest follicle that hangs naturally (meaning not stretched).

Quality: the graduation, taper, angle and thickness of individual hair follicles; the precise grooming (fly away hairs), sheen and symmetry of the facial hair.

Color: the natural color of the hair: multi-color blending, natural lightening or graying, vibrancy, consistency or variation.

Style & Presentation: Does the facial hair fit the person? Does it compliment the person’s overall style? These are considerations for the judges. How is the wearer of the facial hair’s attitude, attention to the crowd, attire or overall look.

Santa Beard, Whiskerina, & Kids Categories:

Creativity: How much creativity or imagination went into the development of the ‘fake’ facial hair. Styling aids, decorations and costumes are encouraged as part of the overall look.
