Democratic Party Pre-Primary Dinner
Saturday, March 23rd | 6-9pm
2024 is going to be one heck of an election season for our country. It will be a true test of democracy and our justice system. And while sometimes the race for President seems like a movie we are watching (and cringing over), there is plenty happening at the local and state level this year as well.
So why not get the party started at our annual Democratic Pre-Primary Dinner!?
We will gather at Knights of Columbus on Saturday, March 23, from 6-9 PM. Chefferguys will be providing the food and non-alcoholic drinks, and there will be a cash bar.
We will have door prizes, a 50/50 raffle (come on, big money!), and hear from local county candidates, as well as two amazing guest speakers.
We'll hear from Dr. Tim Peck, who is running for District 9's seat in the House of Representatives. Dr. Peck is from New Washington, and his goal if he wins a seat in Congress is to solve problems by listening and working with people no matter what party or walk of life they come from. He pledges to serve all of the residents of IN-9, not just Democrats. He believes social progress is possible with sound fiscal responsibility. Learn more about Dr. Peck here: https://timpeckforcongress.com/?#e88ab78b-3a79-49c0-934c-caf3709d8795
We'll also hear from Matt Pierce. State Representative Matt Pierce serves as the Assistant Democratic Floor Leader and is the ranking minority member of the Indiana House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee. He also serves on the Courts and Criminal Code, Rules and Legislative Procedures committees, and the Statutory Committee on Ethics. He was first elected in 2002. He is also a lecturer in the Telecommunications department of the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He previously served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Baron Hill from 1999 to 2001.
We are also incredibly lucky to hear from Charlestown Mayor Dr. Treva Hodges. Mayor Treva was recently elected to her second term and has spoken at events in Jefferson County previously, including the MadWomen event at Red Bicycle Hall. You should go to her website at www.mayortreva.com and check out her platform and accomplishments.
Tickets are $40/person and all funds raised will go right back to our local candidates and local Democratic Headquarters.
Here is the proposed menu for the evening, brought to you by Chefferguys, a local catering and food truck business with delicious offerings:
- Chicken Florentine OR Honey Bourbon Glazed Pork Loin
- Charleston Red Rice (Vegetarian)
- Fire Roasted Seared Fresh Veggies
- Strawberry Feta Tossed Salad
