Using pressure, heat, and magic we will transfer the tannins and dye inherent in leaves and flowers to silk. We will discuss how the process works and why silk is the best fabric for beginning printers to use. Then we will make two experimental prints to get the hang of the process. Our culminating project will be on an 11” x 60” silk satin scarf.
This is a good base course to take before expanding to include other natural fibers and natural dyes in your botanical printing practice.
Bring an old bath towel and a sack lunch or money for lunch at one of Madison’sexcellent restaurants.
